Naugatuck Valley Community College SGA Hosted Robust Schedule of Student Engagement to Launch Fall Semester
The Student Government Association (SGA) of Naugatuck Valley Community College (NVCC) launched a full week of student activities to mark the opening of the fall semester. Classes began on Thursday, August 26, and the events started at the beginning of the week.

On Monday, August 23, the SGA hosted a “Kahoot” Trivia Night via TEAMS. Both the TEAMS app and the “Kahoot” app were available for free. Students downloaded the apps to participate in this and many  other SGA fun activities. During Trivia Night students were challenged to answer questions about the College, testing their knowledge of the college resources. Many of the answers were found in the Orientation modules that had been e-mailed to students! Kahoot Trivia winners  received Amazon gift cards.

Tuesday, August 24 featured the first in-person event of the semester: BINGO was held on the Plaza – 3rd floor Student center Building from 6 - 8 pm. Pizza, refreshments, and great prizes highlighted this free event. Hosted on the Waterbury campus, the event was open to all students.

Wednesday, August 25 the College hosted an “NVCC Orientation Picnic” from 11 am - 1 pm, once again on the Plaza. The free picnic was an opportunity to meet other students, faculty, and staff and enjoy music provided by DJ International. Hosted on the Waterbury campus, the event was open to all students.

On Thursday, August 26 and the first day of classes, the SGA hosted a Welcome event for new and continuing students in the Prism Lounge on the Waterbury campus and in the Student Center on the Danbury campus from 9 am - 12 noon and 4:30 - 6:30 pm. Refreshments were served during these times at both campuses. This casual, open event allowed students to meet the SGA officers, get involved in student activities, join a club, or simply have questions answered.

Karen Blake, Director of Student Activities, commented that her office and the SGA had been “working tirelessly” to organize a fall schedule of activities to engage students every day during the first week of classes. “These activities promoted campus community and the kind of fun that students will remember. We are so excited to have our students back on campus this fall!”
