Allied Health, Nursing, Physical Education Division

Combining technology and the human touch, the health care industry administers care around the clock, responding to the needs of millions of people—from newborns to the critically ill. Health care is the largest industry in the United States Total employment is expected to increase by 20.5 million jobs from 2010 to 2020, with 88 percent of occupations related to health care and is projected to continue to have the fastest job growth between 2010 and 2020.For more information, visit the Employment Projections program. The healthcare and social assistance industry is projected to create about 28 percent of all new jobs created in the U.S. economy. This industry—which includes public and private hospitals, nursing and residential care facilities, and individual and family services—is expected to grow by 33 percent, or 5.7 million new jobs.
