Naugatuck Valley Community College and Praxair to Offer Skills PipelineTM Workforce Development Program in Danbury

Naugatuck Valley Community College (NVCC), with the support and collaboration of Praxair, Inc. (NYSE: PX) is offering their trademarked Skills PipelineTM Workforce Development Program to prepare students for employment in high-demand manufacturing related occupations. The Praxair Skills Pipeline workforce development program provides full scholarships to train new technicians including the cost of: books, materials, a technical equipment package, and support for certificate testing fees in a 10-month program. Participants are also eligible to receive continuing education grants for long-term success, professional development opportunities, and instructorships.

Program course work will begin on August 27 and consists of 34 credit hours and is completed as a cohort in two consecutive semesters. Upon completion of the program, students will earn a certificate in Advanced Machine Technology, in addition to any other certifications earned over the course of the program. Classes will be held at Henry Abbott Technical High School in Danbury, CT.

Recruitment for interested students is currently underway. Interested parties should attend the upcoming community information event held on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 from 5:30pm – 7:00pm at the Crowne Plaza located at 18 Old Ridgebury Road in Danbury, CT 06810. Following the event, interested parties will complete the following steps:

1.       sign up for a Praxair Skills Pipeline workforce development program orientation event,

2.       if you’re not already a current NVCC student, enroll by completing the college application materials.  During this process, NVCC may conduct a pre-screening assessment for basic math and reading skills. (There is no additional cost to participants for these tests.)
