Verification

You may be selected by the U.S. Department of Education or the NVCC Financial Aid Office for a process called verification. When selected for verification, your file will be considered incomplete until you submit requested documentation for our review.

Why is my file being verified? There are several possibilities for being selected for verification. The following are the most common reasons for being selected:

  • All students are selected randomly by the Federal Government. 
  • The FAFSA application has incomplete data. 
  • The FAFSA application has estimated or conflicting information on it. 
  • The IRS data retrieval option was not utilized when completing the FAFSA.

If selected for verification:

You'll receive an email from This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. or a postcard from Inceptia. Log in to NVCC's unique Inceptia Verification Gateway,   2020-2021 Gateway or 2021-2022 Gateway, to get started with the process.

We encourage you to begin the verification process within 7 days of receiving notification from Verification Gateway to ensure you receive your financial aid in time for payments. Failure to complete the verification process could result in the delay or denial of your financial aid.If you get stuck, just call Verification Gateway Customer Service at 888-374-VGCS (8427).

Follow these steps to complete your verification*:

  • Log in to NVCC's unique Inceptia Verification Gateway  2020-2021 Gateway. or the 2021-2022 Gateway (The link can also be found in the email you received from This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..)
  • Create your account and choose preferences for text messages and e-signatures.
  • Complete your Task List.
  • Confirm your signature and review your information.
  • Sign your account.

*If you are a dependent student, your parent also needs to create their own account and complete each of these steps.

Deadline to Submit:

2020-2021 Federal Verification deadline: September 4, 2021.

2021-2022 Federal Verification deadline: September 4, 2022.

Students Not Selected for Verification

Please note, students whose FAFSA application was not selected for verification by the U.S. Department of Education, but may require additional information to proceed with processing, may receive information directly from This email address is being protected from spambots.
