  • The environmental field is a broad based area of study. It is truly interdisciplinary in nature. The subjects of biology, chemistry and geology are interwoven to provide a full picture of our environment and man’s impact upon this system.

The Environmental Science degree provides students with a foundation in the basic sciences and highlights the field’s interdisciplinary nature.

  • Career-oriented students are prepared for beginning positions in environmental science. Typical positions for which graduates are qualified include: field sampling technician, waste water treatment plant operations, regulatory compliance, conservation.
  • The goal of NVCC's Environmental Science program is to prepare students to transfer into a biological environmental science program at a four-year institution. The requirements for the Environmental Science program allows students to transfer seamlessly to most four-year colleges and to successfully complete their bachelor's degree in biology or geology without loss of credit or time.

Environmental science is a broad-based field of study. It is truly interdisciplinary in nature. The subjects of biology, chemistry and geology are interwoven to provide a full picture of our environment and man’s impact on it. NVCC's Environmental Science degree provides students with a foundation in the basic sciences, and provides the opportunity to tailor the program to the student's interest with course and elective choices. The goal of the Environmental Science program is to prepare students to transfer into a biological environmental science program at a four-year institution. Students my select a concentration in one of two areas:

  • Biology option
  • Environmental Systems option
