WHAT: Using author Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s famous TedTalk as a an anchor, NVCC will host a community conversation aimed at recognizing and reflecting upon narratives relating to the pledge of allegiance and the U.S. Flag and how these narratives shape our beliefs and inform our behaviors. The conversation will also provide a platform for those not heard and encourage further dialogue.
WHO: Center for Racial Dialogue and Communal Transformation Committee, Co-Chaired by NVCC Professors Kathy K. Taylor, JD and Joseph Faryniarz as well as Dean of Danbury Antonio Santiago. Other members of the committee include Professors Julia Petitfrere, Nikki McGary, PhD., and Ron Picard, PhD., Kimberly Carolina, Director of Human Resources and Employee Relations, Susan Acito Houlihan, Center for Academic Planning and Student Success, Angela Chapman, Associate Dean of Development; and NVCC students, faculty, and staff.
