Students in Naugatuck Valley Community College’s Honors Institute presented their research projects for the spring semester to faculty, peers and other members of the NVCC community at the Honors Institute Showcase on April 30. Research topics ranged from business communication for ESL Professionals and end of life nursing care to looking at how psychological incentives can yield different behaviors when it comes to environmental protection.

NVCC Hosts Night of Multilingual Poetry on Waterbury Campus

Naugatuck Valley Community College hosted a special evening of poetry featuring three local writers and poets at Confluencia on April 18 at the College’s Waterbury Campus. The evening kicked off with live music and refreshments and continued with an “open mic” featuring NVCC students who offered readings of original works as well as poetry and prose by noted writers.

Naugatuck Valley Community College hosted its sixth annual Spring Open House on Sunday, April 29 from 1 to 4 p.m. at its Waterbury Campus where prospective students and their families were able to see all that the college has to offer. Faculty, staff, and student leaders were on hand to talk one-on-one with prospective students and visitors about applying to and attending NVCC.

Kory Loga, Manager of Bella’Gio Restaurant donned his apron to help his brother, Kelment Loga, a student in the Food Prep II class at NVCC, teach a Master Pizza Class in the Culinary Program at NVCC today. Kel, who works at his family-owned Restaurant, Bella’Gio in Cheshire, was voted best up and coming chef in CT by Readers Choice in CT Magazine.

Student Government Officers Remind Graduating NVCC Students to Apply for Graduation

SGA President Emily Verdosci and Secretary Christopher Gordon will be among the NVCC students graduating this May. The two SGA officers donned their robes last week as a friendly reminder that all students who plan to graduate this May remember to apply to graduate. It is the responsibility of students to apply for graduation, even they do not plan to attend the ceremony. Students may download the application for graduation here. For those students who will be attending commencement, caps and gowns can be picked up on May 3 and May 4 from 9:00am – 7:00pm in room S518.

NVCC’s 2018 Commencement will be held on Thursday, May 24 at the Palace Theater in Waterbury. More details on commencement are at: nv.edu/commencement.
