POSITION: Faculty in Sociology, (10-Month, Tenure Track Position)

LOCATION:    Waterbury, Danbury or any other assigned location

ANTICIPATED STARTING DATE:  January 2020

RESPONSIBILITIES: Under the supervision of the Associate Dean, the faculty member will teach a range of Sociology courses using a variety of instructional techniques. The faculty member will make real-world connections through appropriate activities. The faculty member will also utilize strong communication and interpersonal skills while exercising judgment and tact conducive to a collegial environment.  Within applicable contractual provisions, teaching faculty and non-teaching professional staff are committed to the operation of the college five days a week, which may include evenings, Saturdays or Sundays.  Performance of other duties associated with teaching in a community college is expected such as academic advisement, special college projects, committee work, curriculum and program development, and community service activities consistent with the College’s Mission. Participation in commencement ceremonies, convocation activities, and special college meetings is required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: All ranks require a minimum of a Master’s degree in Sociology and the following:

Instructor:                    $55,571 annual approximate*      0 to 2 years of teaching experience

Assistant Professor:      $60,015 annual approximate*      4-6 years of teaching experience

*salary is subject to collective bargaining increase.
