  • DAV, Disabled American Veterans
We are dedicated to a single purpose: empowering veterans to lead high-quality lives with respect and dignity. We accomplish this by ensuring that veterans and their families can access the full range of benefits available to them; fighting for the interests of America's injured heroes on Capitol Hill; and educating the public about the great sacrifices and needs of veterans transitioning back to civilian life.

  • Freedom & Honor, Transition, Leadership, Education
AMVETS Warrior Transition Workshops integrate a peer-to-peer approach to help you learn how to re-establish connections with their friends, families, occupations, and society as well as to reduce the impact of combat trauma. Freedom & Honor workshops are not mental health programs; but post-deployment training programs. Our programs are not designed to replace such services but provide additional support mechanism as well as provide an alternative route for those who do not want to see a mental health counselor. We are open to active duty, veterans, Guard and Reserve regardless of rank or conflict. Visit the web site for the current workshop schedule.
  • Mission Continues Fellowships
The Mission Continues challenges veterans to serve and lead in communities across America. Many veterans struggle to find the same purpose at home as they found in the mission, camaraderie and structure of the military. The Mission Continues does not offer charity; rather, it challenges returning service members to utilize their tremendous skills and leadership to contnues serving our country at home. Through service, veterans find renewed strength and purpose while building stronger communities. Our mission is fueled by a deep belief that our veterans are assets whose leadership is needed now more than ever here at home.

Note that many companies state that they prefer students attending 4 year colleges or ask for bachelor’s degree candidates as one of their preferred qualifications for internships. However this should not stop you from applying as this does not mean that other candidates are not considered. Your academic record, experience, quality of your resume and other documentation, as well as the strength of your references are all important.
