Veteran Students

Welcome home, soldier, and thank you for your courage and dedicated service to our country.

Education is one of the many benefits of serving in the Armed Forces. As a veteran you may be eligible for any or all of the following:

  • Military Tuition Assistance
  • The GI Bill®
  • Scholarships
  • State Tuition Assistance, Fee Reductions, or Waivers
  • Federal Loans and Grants - Federal Student Aid

At Naugatuck Valley Community College, we'll help pair you with the skills you need to take part in Connecticut’s economy.

Our friendly atmosphere and flexible programs provide an opportunity to find and pursue rewarding areas of study in over 100 degree and certificate programs. You can choose to complete an associates degree, pursue a certificate or earn credits that may be transferred to UConn, the Connecticut State Universities, and other fine colleges and universities in our area.

The Veterans Oasis is a dedicated room in S411 of Joseph V. Cistulli Student Center where veterans can meet, study, network and share experiences.

In February of 2010, the room was remodeled thanks to the following donations:

Debbie and Michael Albert of Pilgrim Furniture City donated living and dining room pieces, artwork and accessories. They also assisted with the design of the room.

Wal-Mart of Naugatuck and Wal-Mart of Waterbury partnered to donate a 55” flat screen television.

Doug DuPont, owner of Connecticut Appliance and Fireplace Distributors donated a new countertop and sink.

Veterans Carl Michaud and George Schnyer of Northwest Carpentry of Litchfield donated their time and labor to install the countertop and sink.

Ken and Sue Petruzzi of Naugatuck Window and Glass donated time and labor for the repair of a glass display cabinet, which is currently displays veterans’ memorabilia.

The Mercury Group provided network wiring and installation.

The Cheshire Women's Club provided much needed financial assistance to help alleviate overall cost.
