If you are concerned about paying for your education, we encourage you to meet with one of our advisors to discuss your financial aid options.
Find out what additional steps you need to take to ensure that your financial aid gets submitted on time or, if you are a returning student or transfer student, ensure that your disbursements are not interrupted.
If you are a new student who has already applied to the college, meet with a financial aid officer to discuss alternative finance options or start the process now!
Step 1: Check your eligibility.
Step 2: Fill out a FAFSA online.
Step 3: Track your application.
Step 4: Check your award status.
Step 5: Maintain SAP.
Remember that you must fill out a new FAFSA annually. If you have questions about the financial aid process, look through the resources on the left or contact us.
If you need help filling out a FAFSA, join us at a Waterbury campus fall workshop , a Saturday Waterbury campus fall Workshop, or a Danbury campus fall workshop.

Returning students may complete the FAFSA for the following aid year beginning on January 1st.
- you may use an estimate of the previous years income to complete the application
- go to FAFSA online and click “pre-fill;" your application will automatically be populated; student and/or parent will enter updated income information
- be sure your personal information (home address, phone number, email, etc.) are current
- once the tax return for the previous year is completed, bring a signed copy including W2s to the financial aid office.
Returning students will be awarded financial aid based on a first-come, first-served basis. Awards also depend on availability of funds and your academic progress status.
You are encouraged to apply in a timely fashion.
Students that transfer to NVCC will need the College's federal school code to complete and re-submit their FAFSA:
Naugatuck Valley’s federal school code is: 006982.
FAFSA applications will be processed as received. It may be necessary to make alternative payment arrangements with the Bursar's Office until financial aid has been awarded.
PLEASE NOTE: Student financial aid awards at NVCC may differ from an award received at a previous school.
