RESPONSIBILITIES: The incumbent is required to have contacts with school administrators, counselors and key members of community organizations such as corporations, service groups, churches, foundations and local governments. The incumbent is expected to represent the College in a manner which enhances the College’s image in the public.
This position is accountable for contributing to the enrollment goals of the College through effective performance in the following essential functional areas with emphasis on the outreach and student recruitment function:
· Outreach and student recruitment: participating in meetings with high school guidance counselors and administrators, students and community groups and serving as a staff participant at such events as college fairs, job fairs and open house programs; identifying new recruitment venues and initiating contact with community leaders to develop new recruitment events and presenting college information sessions.
· Enrollment administration: reviewing and processing applications for admission including screening documents for completeness; initiating requests for additional information and following-up to accept and register students. Responding to questions from students, composing and preparing correspondence to arrange applicant appointments and to provide general admissions information.
· Admissions advising: meeting with applicants to advise them on appropriate courses and the admissions and registration process.
GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION:
Under the supervision of the Bridge to College Director and the Bridge to College Program Coordinator, math tutors will aid the Bridge to College administrative and instructional staff in implementing and delivering student services to program participants and to facilitate academic, cultural and social enrichment activities as they relate to students and staff.
Under the supervision of the Director of Marketing, the Public Relations Associate supports the college’s strategic marketing plan with writing, editing, media relations, research tasks, public relations initiatives, and positioning strategies. The Public Relations Associate manages, maintains and develops relationships with reporters, writers and representatives of the press in the 22- town service area, government and system contacts as appropriate. The Public Relations Associate is accountable for research, writing and editing informational material to provide for clear and accurate communication with the College’s external and internal audiences. This accountability includes such essential tasks as: collecting information, verifying its accuracy and creating written material appropriate for intended audiences. This may include interviewing sources of news and information and developing informative and interesting articles and written material; collecting written material from other College sources and editing for content, form and grammar and producing articles and information for communications and news publications; preparing complex information materials such as College catalogs and schedules involving the verification of precise and vital data and placing in useful format. The candidate must be well-versed in both print and on-line formats for news, including the ability to manage news content on the website and in social media applications.
