12-Month, Tenure-Track Position

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
A Bachelor’s degree, Master’s preferred, in an appropriately relevant field together with two to five years of experience in a related field that includes fund-raising and development experience for public sector or non-profit boards and foundations.  The successful applicant is expected to possess advanced knowledge and abilities in fund raising, grant writing, public/organization relations at an executive level, fund-oriented strategic planning, non-profit Foundation experience, IT skills, and effective oral and written communications.

Applicants who do not meet the minimum qualifications as stated are encouraged to put in writing precisely how their background and experience have prepared them for the responsibilities of this position.  They must also provide appropriate references.  Exceptions to the degree requirements may be made for compelling reasons.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Director of Development manages a comprehensive program at a Community College to locate sources of funds, to prepare grant requests, to develop long term relationships with donor organizations and individuals, to solicit and to manage funds from these sources.  The Director of Development provides for the long-term financial support of the College from sources external to the College’s regular funding through effective performance in the areas of identifying and developing funding sources; cultivating and soliciting voluntary fund sources; managing, allocating, safeguarding and accounting for development funds.  Incumbent will support the NVCC Foundation, serve as legislative liaison for the College and engage our community partners in support of the College strategic plan.  In addition, incumbent will be expected to assist in the formation and functioning of the College’s alumni association. 

 

MINIMUM SALARY:     

$64,491 annual approximate (subject to collective bargaining increase), plus excellent medical insurance, retirement and related fringe benefits.
