NVCC Alumnus, Dr. Robert Hartmann McNamara Inspires Students to Succeed in College

Associate Provost and Dean of The Citadel Graduate College Returns to His Alma Mater

Unassuming and down-to-earth is how one might describe Dr. Robert McNamara, a 1984 graduate of Mattatuck Community College, who was invited to speak with NVCC students on October 28, 2014 about his path to student success. In a written biography that he shared with students at the beginning of the event, he described himself as “an ordinary guy who was provided some extraordinary opportunities.” Dr. McNamara’s story is one of challenges, not unfamiliar to some students in the audience.

NVCC Students, Alumni, Faculty and Staff Join "Make a Difference Day" Campaign

"Make a Difference Day" is the largest national day of community service. On the fourth Saturday of October, millions of volunteers around the world unite in a common mission to improve the lives of others. Connecticut Public Higher Education Institutions came together for "National Make a Difference Day," except, they turned it into a week of service  from October 19-25. http://ctpublicsmakeadiff.org/

NVCC Student Email Accounts and Office 365

As a Connecticut Community College student, you have access to:

  • A college email address (this will be your primary email address for all official college communications)
  • Office 365 Pro Plus (this full version of Microsoft Office can be installed on up to five computers)

Your email address

All current and new students will have an official Office 365 account and email address: prefix@mail.ct.edu.

The ‘prefix’ will consist of the first letter of your first name followed by the first four letters of your last name and then a four-digit random number.

Example: jsmit1234@mail.ct.edu

Logging into your email

There are two ways to access Office 365:

  1. Log into myCommNet and click on the link to Office 365.
  2. Access your email directly: portal.microsoftonline.com

You will login in to Office 365 with your Net ID and password. View step-by-step instructions.

Forwarding your email

Don't want to deal with another inbox? Forward your NVCC email to your personal account and continue to receive all of your email in one place. Here's how.
