NVCC Hosts Presidential Awards Ceremony to Honor Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center Students

Daisy Cocco De Filippis, Ph.D., President of Naugatuck Valley Community College, presented awards to 21 students of the Advanced Manufacturing Technology Program. Established by the President to challenge manufacturing students to excel, the awards recognize students whose GPA is in the top ten. A second award goes to students with a GPA of “B” or better. 

Honors Institute Showcase Features Student Projects

The Honors Institute at Naugatuck Valley Community College hosted presentations of student works on December 5, 2014. Organized by the NVCC Honors Institute Advisory Committee under the guidance of Associate Professor of Management, Robyn-Jay Bage, the event featured students’ research that will earn them honors credits for their independent work throughout the semester.

Thomaston Savings Bank Awards Scholarship to Advanced Manufacturing Technology Student at NVCC

Thomaston Savings Bank (TSB) awarded NVCC student, Wilson Rosado a scholarship on December 8, so he could complete NVCC’s  Advanced Manufacturing Technology Program without the burden of tuition payments.

NVCC and TSB representatives gathered at the College’s state-of-the-art manufacturing center to present Rosado with his award, surrounded by his family, peers and instructors.

Naugatuck Valley Community College Planning Summer 2015 Relocation of Danbury Campus

President Daisy Cocco De Filippis, Ph.D., has announced plans for the College’s new Danbury Campus.  The State Department of Administrative Services has completed its public search and negotiation for new campus space. The new Danbury campus, if final approvals are granted, will be located downtown at 190 Main St. This new location at Main and West Streets is across from the Danbury Public Library, and across the street from the current NVCC Campus. The entrance is on West Street, a few feet off Main Street. The building is owned by Joseph DaSilva Jr.

Naugatuck Valley Community College Students Host Round Table Meeting with Board of Regents President

 Board of Regents President, Dr. Gregory Gray spent the month of November taking the new Transform 20-20 initiatives on the road. With a goal to solicit feedback from students and then present it to the Board of Regents (BOR) in 2015, Dr. Gray worked his plan to meet with community college students by organizing contacts through their Student Government Association officers.  The meetings with students from the 17 CT State Universities and Community Colleges were intended to inform, rally support and produce 1,000 students to legislative budget hearings next Spring to advocate for funding. “Your voice will allow us to take the next huge step from being a good college and university system to becoming a great state higher education system,” said Dr. Gray.
