NVCC Hosts Manufacturing Month Celebration in Conjunction with Opening Art Exhibit

President Daisy Cocco De Filippis, Ph.D., the students, faculty and staff of Naugatuck Valley Community College hosted a forum to feature the histories of local manufacturers to celebrate October as “Manufacturing Month” in Connecticut. President De Filippis opened the ceremony with a warm welcome that highlighted the list of seventeen manufacturing companies in attendance.


NVCC’s GEAR UP and the Connecticut Women’s Education and Legal Fund Host a G20 Summit for Female Students

NVCC’s Gear UP (Gaining Early Awareness and Readiness for Undergraduate Program), STARBASE (a nationwide STEM education program designed for fifth graders) and the Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Division teamed up with the Connecticut Women’s Education and Legal Fund (CWEALF) to host a G20 Summit on Friday, October 24 from 8:30 am to 1:30 pm on the NVCC campus.

Advanced Manufacturing Centers Initiative Named NEDA Program of the Year

NVCC is one of four Connecticut centers to be recognized

The Advanced Manufacturing Centers Initiative was recognized for its program longevity since the creation of the first Advanced Manufacturing Center (AMC) at Asnuntuck Community College in Enfield in 1998, and for successfully duplicating the initiative in 2012 at three community colleges, including Naugatuck Valley Community College.

Four Students Earn STEM Awards from CT Space Grant Consortium

Four Naugatuck Valley Community College students have been funded by the Connecticut Space Grant Consortium to further their education in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) fields. The Connecticut Space Grant Consortium is a NASA funded organization made up of 16 Space Grant affiliated universities and community colleges in the state of Connecticut. NVCC is one of the first Connecticut Community Colleges to join.
