Along with your application, you may need to provide the following documents.  For instance, if your class requires a pre-requisite or you want to see if you are eligible to be waived from placement testing.

If you have taken college level classes while in high school, you will need to request a transcript from the respective college to see if your courses are eligible for credit at NVCC. Transcripts may also be used to waive placement testing and prerequisite requirements.

If you have taken SAT’s and/or ACT’s, submit test scores to determine if you need to take the placement exam and for placement into math and English classes.

Once your application is received, you will be notified if you need to take a placement test. 

If a placement test is required, visit the testing page to learn how to sign up for a testing appointment, or to obtain study guides and other resources that can help you prepare for the test.

We recommend all students meet with an advisor to ensure the class(es) you are choosing will meet your future goals.  However, if you already know which class(es) you need to take, as a non-degree student you are eligible to register without this appointment.  See Step 4 below for registration information.

Now that you’ve completed Steps 1-3 you are ready to register. You can view the course schedule and register for classes through our myCommNet site using your student/Net ID # and password.

Your final step is to make a payment.

Payment options include cash, check and credit card (VISA, MasterCard, Discover and American Express). An Installment Payment Plan is also available.
