Services for Blind and Low Vision Users
Assistive Technology Software and Equipment (provided by a 2010-11 LSTA grant)
The library offers several workstations equipped with software for low vision or blindness:
- ZoomText magnifier/screen-readers with large print keyboard (5th floor reference area)
- Clearview+ Video Magnifier (5th floor reference area)
- Eye-Pal Solo Low Vision scan and read system (4th floor quiet study area)
Faculty and staff interested in training can register for regularly scheduled sessions through the IITT Course Cart.

Equipment available to borrow
The library also offers equipment that can be borrowed for in-class use. Ask at the circulation desk to borrow:
- Zoom-EX print-to-audio scanner
- Victor Reader Stream mp3 player
- ZoomText large-print keyboard
Many of the library databases provide downloadable audio files of academic journals, magazines and newspapers. Over 23,000 library eBooks are compatible with screen readers through your eBrary account.
Contact Jaime Hammond, Director of Library Services, at 203-575-8199 to have your account enabled. Persons with documented print disabilities have access to 65,000 downloadable audio textbooks & literature titles at http://www.learningally.org.
Services for Patrons with Limited Mobility
Walk-in and telephone reference services are available to assist with research, locating materials or general information. Reference librarians are located on the 5th floor of the L building in the main entrance area of the library. Contact the reference librarians via telephone at 203-575-8244.

Locating or reaching library materials
Ask at any service desk and a staff member will retrieve your requested items. You may also call ahead and request that we hold your items at the circulation desk.
Self-service and assisted photocopying
There are black and white photocopiers on both floors of the library. The photocopiers charge 15 cents per copy and accept coins and one dollar bills. Library staff will photocopy materials for patrons with disabilities upon request. You may ask staff at any service desk for assistance.
The 4th and 5th floors of the library, including the computer labs and group project room, are wheelchair accessible. Please contact library staff for assistance accessing materials located on the mezzanine level.
