Local manufacturers in the New Milford-Danbury region came together for the area’s first Manufacturing Summit on Tues., June 3 at Kimberly-Clark Corporation in New Milford. As a 2014 NVCC Advanced Manufacturing program graduate, Hannah Lenoce, 19, has a promise of employment for at least the next four years at Marion Manufacturing Co. in Cheshire. At the end of this time, she will be nationally certified as a tool-and-die maker, making her highly marketable and transferable at a time when most manufacturers are scrambling to replace an aging workforce.
The Precision Metalforming Association (PMA) presented Naugatuck Valley Community College with two $1,000 checks on Thurs., April 24, 2014 to support advanced manufacturing at the College. What do manufacturing, water quality, biomedical engineering, research science, computer science, ecology and evolutionary biology have in common? You’ve undoubtedly guessed it: they are all powerful career fields for women who thrive on the “hows” and “whys” of the world and who embrace the challenge to make that world better.
On Monday, March 10, the Smaller Manufacturer’s Association (SMA) honored two Naugatuck Valley Community College Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center (AMTC) students, TJ Dignan and Daniel Damiata, as SMA’s March Students of the Month.
