Naugatuck Valley Community College hosted a reception honoring 30 Principal-to-President Scholarship recipients from 19 area high schools on Tuesday, June 9 in the College’s Technology Hall Dining Room. NVCC President Daisy Cocco De Filippis, Ph.D. said she hopes the scholarships, which were applied in academic year 2014-15, encourage the students to expand their horizons while exploring choices for future postsecondary education.
Naugatuck Valley Community College celebrated its 50th Commencement on May 28 at the Palace Theater in Waterbury. For the fourth year in a row, the College boasted a graduating class of more than 1,000.

This year's valedictorian and salutatorian received a 4.0 and 3.95 GPA, respectively. Combined, they earned eight recognitions at the 2013 and 2014 Honors Night ceremonies
The Presidential Medals of Honor were established in 2012 to recognize students, faculty, staff, administrators and community members for distinguished service to the mission accomplishment and program outcomes of NVCC students and the College. Honorees are recognized on the recommendation of faculty or colleagues, and on the endorsement of the Office of the President.
Graduates of the Class of 2014 ranged in age from 17 to 71, and hailed from 10 states in total.
On May 29, 2014 at its 49th commencement, Naugatuck Valley Community College celebrated, for the fifth year in a row, the largest graduating class in the history of the College. The total number of awards conferred is 1,325.
More than 100 students gathered with their families on Tuesday, May 27, for Naugatuck Valley Community College's annual Honors Night at the College's Fine Arts Center. Honors Night recognizes students who have distinguished themselves throughout the academic year by excelling academically, demonstrating leadership in their field of study, or engaging with the campus and greater area community.

Inspired by the President's annual High Tea Ceremony, which celebrates women who have overcome adversity to succeed at NVCC, the NVCC Male Encouragement Network, M.E.N., decided this year it was time to finally recognize the spirit of triumph, resiliency and commitment among our outstanding male students.
Tours, workshops and information booths helped students explore possible education paths
On Sunday, April 27, 2014, hundreds of potential students and their families arrived at NVCC's Technology Hall for the Second Annual Open House. Information booths filled the Technology Hall atrium and tours departed every 15 minutes on the hour. Workshops were also held consecutively on topics ranging from the admissions process to transfer and dual admission.

Naugatuck Valley Community College will host the second annual Spring Open House Sponsored by Dunkin Donuts 1249 West Main Street on Sun., April 27 from 1 – 4 p.m. in the Ruth Ann Leever Atrium, Fine Arts Center, 750 Chase Parkway in Waterbury.

NVCC Team Pulls in Top Three Finishes
Three NVCC staff members competed in the Walk in Their Footsteps/Race for Awareness to benefit St. Vincent De Paul Mission of Waterbury, Inc. on Sat., Oct. 27. The three racers who comprised Team NVCC all placed in their age divisions: Christine Cocchiola-Meyer (1st), Mary Ann Fontaine (3rd) and Nancy Washington (3rd).
