October Manufacturing Information Sessions

How to Earn Manufacturing Certification in One Year

Naugatuck Valley Community College’s (NVCC) Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center is hosting two information sessions in October for students interested in earning manufacturing certification. The sessions will take place at 2:15 p.m. on Tues., Oct. 15 and 5:30 p.m. on Wed., Oct. 30. Both sessions will be held in Technology Hall, Room T515, 750 Chase Parkway in Waterbury.

Students who earn their two-semester certificate in Advanced Manufacturing Machine Technology Level II will be qualified to work in machine technology and CNC manufacturing environments. The certificate provides desired work skills by combining hands-on instruction, interactive lab experiences, theory and possible on-site manufacturing internships. The College currently offers daytime and evening manufacturing cohorts.

Graduates are prepared to work on the shop floor with knowledge in blueprint reading, manufacturing processes, CNC and over 400 contact hours with state-of-the-art machinery.

Additionally, credits earned in this certificate may apply to the College of Technology's (COT) Technology Studies advanced manufacturing degree option, which offers seamless transfer to several four-year universities including Central Connecticut State University and the University of Hartford.

Students who enroll in these programs may be eligible for financial aid. In addition, these certificates are Workforce Investment Act (WIA) approved and qualify for assistance under the Veterans Retraining Assistance Program (VRAP).

The program curriculum is available at Ct.edu/manufacturing. Potential students can contact Deirdre Moutinho at 203-575-8014 or dmoutinho@nv.edu to learn more.
