College-aged Students Invited to Manufacturing Information Sessions

(Waterbury, CT) Naugatuck Valley Community College’s (NVCC) Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center is currently enrolling students for the fall 2013 semester with an expected Advanced Manufacturing Certificate completion date of May 2014.

Interested students can learn more about the program by attending an info session at Naugatuck Valley Community College’s Advanced Manufacturing Technology Center on Aug. 7, 14 and 21st.

Students who earn their one-year certificate in Advanced Manufacturing Machine Technology Level II will be qualified to work in machine technology and CNC manufacturing environments. The certificate provides desired work skills by combining hands-on instruction, interactive lab experiences, theory and possible on-site manufacturing internships.

Graduates are prepared to work on the shop floor with knowledge in blueprint reading, manufacturing processes, CNC and over 400 contact hours with state-of-the-art machinery.

Additionally, credits earned in this certificate may apply to the College of Technology's (COT) Technology Studies advanced manufacturing degree option, which offers seamless transfer to several four-year universities including Central Connecticut State University and the University of Hartford.

Students who enroll in these programs may be eligible for financial aid. In addition, these certificates are Workforce Investment Act (WIA) approved and qualify for assistance under the Veterans Retraining Assistance Program (VRAP).

The program curriculum is available at Ct.edu/manufacturing. Potential students can contact Deirdre Moutinho at 203-575-8014 or dmoutinho@nv.edu to learn more.
